The aim of the workshop is to bring together scientists from different communities (physics, chemistry, fluid mechanics) interested in active soft matter systems that self-propel in a liquid environment, such as Janus colloids, motile cells, or active droplets.
Underlying mechanisms range from thermal and chemical surface forces to shape deformations and self-generated Marangoni flows. Important aspects are the efficient steering of active particles, hydrodynamic interactions, and the emergence of collective effects.
The workshop will take place at the Centre de Recherche Paul Pascal (CRPP) on the main campus of Université de Bordeaux.
